Sebastian d’Orgeval in the work by Anne Golon
(p. 137) Now, as he leaned on his desk, he thought of Orgeval's high forehead with its thick tuft of auburn hair. Orgeval had an immense forehead, which was an indication of his extraordinary intelligence. 'This child will never live with a forehead like that,' the teachers in the seminary used to say. 'His intelligence will kill him.' Blue eyes shone out under his bushy eyebrows, astonishingly clear and deep-set; his features were nobly cut and his nose, which had been broken by the Iroquois, in no way detracted from the impression they made; his broad, full mouth was framed by a beard like that of Christ. This impressive looking man bore the most crushing of burdens with the utmost serenity. Loménie imagined his pen running swiftly across the piece of birch-bark which he used as parchment, although the hand that held it was shaking with fever. This hand was strangely swollen and pink, the result of terrible burns, and some of its fingers were too short, like those of a leper, while others were blackened by flames and still others stubbed at the ends where the nails had been torn out. His courage under torture had so impressed the Iroquois that they had allowed him to live.

Sebastian d’Orgeval in the work by Anne Golon
(p. 352) The man who had come see him wore a black robe, and a crucifix made of wood and copper across his chest. Just above the figure on the crucifix, there was a glitter of rubies. The man stooped slightly as he stood, for he was still recovering from a wound in his side that the Iroquois had given him in the recent skirmishes near Katarunk. He had very handsome dark blue eyes, deep-set beneath bushy eyebrows, and a curly reddish-brown beard that hid a pleasant, gentle mouth. His face was often compared with that of Christ. He was of medium height and strong. Pont-Briand did not like him. He was frightened of him, as he was of all Jesuits, who are too intelligent and want to deprive you of all the pleasures of this life. The man's hand, mutilated by Iroquois torture, filled the lieutenant with repulsion, although he had never felt the same way about the infirmities of his trapper friends like L'Aubignière, in spite of the fact that they had been subjected to the same ordeal.
