The year 2006 represented a turning point for the Angélique phenomenon. The first full versions of the books from the new "Angélique l'Intégrale" series were published in Switzerland, and the novel by author Anne Golon finally got the official Czech fan webpage www.angelique.cz, which is a tribute to Anne Golon's work.

A non-commercial webpage supporting the Angélique book series and its author had been planned by the founder of the site for several years before, but its creation always took a back seat to other projects. However, Madame Golon and her daughter Nadia, full of energy and determination, convinced her to take the plunge one rainy day in Versailles. With their support, in 2006 the first Czech website truly dedicated to the subject began to emerge.

The first version of the site was launched in early 2007 and over the years it has grown thanks to Anne Golon's supporters and their interest in the topics published here. The originally Czech site turned into a Czech-Slovak site, and since 2014 we started to add versions in other world languages, which our small translation team continues to work on.

The main purpose of this site is enlightenment and elimination of all the myths that have been created around the Angélique series and the life of Anne Golon in the past. Over time, the site has also become a meeting place for fans of the novel series and a place to arrange historical information regarding the various specifics of the Sun King era encountered in Anne Golon's work.

Published articles have their author listed. Other texts, where the author is not named, are the property of this website. Therefore, any text published on all language versions of this website may not be used in the same form without the written consent of the webmaster or the authors named.

On the other hand, the videos presented here and the visual accompaniments used, such as book covers, illustrations from books, posters and photos from movies or old magazines, as well as the artwork of fans, are the exclusive property of their authors, individual production companies and publishers (especially in sections Movies and Fun). Other photos are original.

We welcome new thematic contributions, which can be sent to the contact e-mail address and which will ideally be prepared in Word, according to the current standards of other articles on the site (correct citations, citing sources according to a uniform standard, not sending images with problematic copyright issues, etc.). We publish articles only under real names, for texts from registered users of our discussion forum, a nickname is possible. All authors are responsible for the accuracy of their text.

In accordance with international Internet practice, we remind relevant information that the owner of the domain and webmaster of this site does not claim any ownership or authorship of the novel and movie characters and situations presented.

Thank you in advance for any input and suggestions.

Who is the author of Angélique?
The author of Angélique is Anne Golon (1921-2017), who started writing this historical novel in 1952. Her husband Serge Golon (1903-1972) has helped her with the studies of milieu and historical sources in the beginning. The publishers of that time insisted on stating the name of a male author to give "more weight" to this work. For this reason there were referred as the authors married couple Anne and Serge Golon for decades (see Anne Golon section).

Why was not Angélique published for so long?
Angélique could not and ought not be published in the recent years. The novel Angélique was published in many countries in the nineties – but it was in the fact illegal. After the death of Serge Golon, the publishers said he was the sole author of the novel and Anne Golon lived in abject poverty (see Anne Golon - Present and Future). However, the copyright issues are resolved from 2004.

Where is possible to get all Angélique books at the moment?
Old books: 1) Antiquarian, 2) Library; New editions: 1) You can start to read the new French or Russian editions from the series "l'Intégrale" or "Version d'Origin", 2) You can wait for the new edition of Angélique books in your country or in language you speak.

What is the difference between the new Angélique l'Intégrale series and the old issues?
The new Angélique l'Intégrale series, called as the "complete work", is fundamentally different because there have been countless unauthorized modifications over the decades. All the books in all languages, including the French original, have been edited and abridged by their publishers, that's why Anne Golon began to rework them. She added some of the original passages that had been omitted, and also expanded or edited some scenes with more specific historical information. The l'Intégrale series was launched in Switzerland in April 2006, and then began to be published in other languages. Unfortunately, this version of the books has not yet been published completely anywhere (see The book covers l'Intégrale).

What is the Version d'Origine series?
The new "Angélique Version d'Origine" series, which has been published since 2013 and which is called as the "full version", is a re-release of the original books, with the only difference that Anne Golon herself is credited as the author, as it ought to be in the 1950s. It is identical in content to the first French edition of 1957-1985. These new books are published only in France and Russia now, but the first six volumes have also been published in Serbia (see Books: Overview of editions).

Is the book "The Victory of Angélique" a final part of the series?
No, it's not. Anne Golon was working on the final part of the series named "Le Royaume de France" (The Kingdom of the France), which was to be so extensive that it was to be published in two or three volumes. She had a lot of materials, handwritten notes and researchs for this new sequel. Unfortunately, she didn't have so much time as she would wish to have for finishing of this last part, but she always assured her readers that her heroes would only end up together. However, her daughter Nadine Goloubinoff, who represents the rights to her work and continues to publish the Angélique books, assures the readers that the book will be finished and published. The exact date is unknown.
