The book covers: The German editions of Angélique in 12 volumes
Germany was the first country in which it were the Angélique books issued, ahead of the original French editions. In all of German-speaking countries would be right way named only Anne Golon as the author of the book series Angélique.In 1956, the publisher Blanvalet Verlag GmbH Munich bought the rights for the Angélique novel, and in the fall of the same year, the publishing house Lothar Blanvalet Verlag in Berlin issued the first book under the title 'Angélique'. This release includes the first and the second part of the series: 'the Marquise of the Angels' and 'the Road to Versailles', as they were named in later, original editions in French language. In France, these two first books were published part 1 in 1957 and part 2 in 1958 for the first time. In this style (the first and second part together in a band), has been the book published nearly always and this made of the German speaking novels series of 12 books instead series of 13 books.
In the same year, as in Berlin, the first book of the series was published in Vienna by the Book Club Danube – Buchergemeinschaft Donauland. 'Angélique and the King' was published in the year 1959. In addition to it, there were another, new publications by diverse publishers and book clubs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From the year 1960 Angélique series were released by diverse book clubs like Deutscher Bücherbund (Stuttgart, Hamburg), Deutsche Buchgemeinschaft (Berlin, Darmstadt, Wien) and by publishing house Büchergilde Gutenberg (Frankfurt am Main, Wien, Zürich).
In the second half of the 70s, the book club Reinhard Mohn Bertelsmann OHG (Gütersloh) started with further reedition. Almost at the same time, the publisher Rowohlt-Taschenbuch (Reinbek bei Hamburg), known as Rororo, starts with his own editions and divides the first book 'Angélique' in two parts. But this series ends with the book 'Angélique und die Dämonin' (Angélique and the Demon).
In the 80 years, together with the first editions of the last four books of the series, the older parts of the Angélique series were released as well. The publisher Goldmann Wilhelm GmbH (München) was involved as well, but he published only the last four books.
In 1990, the complete Angélique series were released by the publisher Schuler Verlag GmbH (Herrsching), which divides not only the first book in two parts (first part and second), but as well the book 'Angélique, die Siegerin' (Angélique, the Winner; in French original 'Angélique in Quebec'). This one was a 14-part special edition. The publisher mentioned inside of the books: "This is a unique edition of the works Angélique by Anne Golon in 14 books. All German-speaking rights are staying by publishing house Blanvalet Verlag GmbH, Munich 1976. The copyrights remained of course at Opera Mundi Paris."
All book clubs released the book series Angélique in the name of the publishing house and copyright holder Blanvalet. Inside of all of the diverse issues there is often no year of release. Since the books have been published over the years repeatedly (usually in connection with the publishing of a new part of the series), for our preview, we mention only the year, in which we believe was this by this publisher realised for the first time.
